The Standard, an Austrian newspaper, http://derstandard.at/?url=/?id=2964720, published on Juli 19, 2007: „Survey: In average every third working hour is unproductive, main reason is poor leadership and it’s not reluctant employees“.
Every third working hour is unproductive, i.e. 80 days per year we are at our workplace without any contribution to revenue. Under the assumption that the cost of a man year is approximately 100k Euro this equals to a loss of 30k Euro per year an employee is not turning into revenue. For a company with 100 employees this is a pure loss of 3 million Euros.
Let’s say the survey results are too pessimistic, only every 6th working hour is unproductive and leadership education will improve for 10% only, still 150k Euro will be lost per year!
